Hell, it got a content warning for Christ's sake. The tonal whiplash in season 3 exists purely because of True Colors. Remember, the pen-ultimate episode had the girls dress up in Glam-rock (Well, Just rock for Sasha) and made Grime play a several-hour long serenade on the harp. While the latter half of Season 2 did amp up the directly story-driven episodes, it still kept the general tone of seasons 1 and 2a. Ultimately, Season 3 maintains the status quo, while True Colors should have shattered it.Īnd it is only True Colors that did this. Season 3 being too light hearted?
